Program Admission Requirements

  • Official transcripts - showing completion of a bachelor’s degree (from a regionally accredited institution) with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Current Résumé
  • Recommendation - One academic or professional reference (preferred) addressing your readiness for graduate-level work. Download form
  • Professional Essay - Maximum of two pages that touch on the following:
    • Why do you want to pursue a graduate degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at FSC?
    • How does our MSIO program fit your career goals?
    • What experiences have prepared you for success in this program?
    • What are your academic strengths and weaknesses, and how might they affect your graduate studies?
    • Our program emphasizes teamwork. Describe a time you worked as part of a team.
  • Preferred Application Preparation - To help you get the most out of the M.S. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology, we recommend that applicants have completed coursework in areas such as statistics, research methods, and core psychology foundations. Examples of preferred courses (or approved equivalents) include:
    • MAT 2022 Elementary Statistics
    • PSY 2206 Social Psychology
    • PSY 2210 Tests & Measurements
    • PSY 3310 Research Design & Statistics
    • PSY 3336 Industrial-Organizational Psychology
    Please note: applicants from a variety of academic backgrounds are considered. In some cases, students may be asked to complete additional coursework to strengthen their preparation.
