Pre-Engineering Dual Degree Program

Pathway Structure 

Phase 1: Florida Southern College

Complete the foundational classes in math and science required for admission to the dual-degree program, while still having the freedom to major in any field you choose. Pre-engineering students at FSC most often choose to pursue a degree in: 


This phase focuses on building a strong liberal arts foundation, emphasizing problem solving abilities, and fostering knowledge in the humanities and social sciences. 

Phase 2: Washington University in St. Louis 

After completing your pre-engineering and major coursework at FSC, you’ll transition to the McKelvey School of Engineering at WUSTL to finish your engineering degree. This pathway allows you to earn both a bachelor's degree from FSC and an engineering degree from WUSTL, with three flexible options: 

  • 3-2 Program- With three years at FSC and two at WUSTL, you enter engineering studies sooner, giving you a quicker start in technical courses and professional networking.
  • 4-2 Program- Four years at FSC allows for a deeper engagement with your major and broader liberal arts studies, strengthening your critical thinking, communication, and interdisciplinary skills. 
  • 3-3 Graduate Option- For students interested in advanced degrees, this program also offers automatic acceptance into WUSTL's 3-3 program, allowing you to earn a bachelor's degree from FSC, and both a bachelor's and a master's degree in engineering from WUSTL.

Accreditation Information

Florida Southern College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees. Washington University in St. Louis is not accredited by the Commission on Colleges and the accreditation of Florida Southern College does not extend to or include Washington University in St. Louis or its students. Further, although Florida Southern College agrees to accept certain course work from Washington University in St. Louis to be applied toward an award from Florida Southern College, that course work may not be accepted by other colleges or universities in transfer, even if it appears on a transcript from Florida Southern College. This decision to accept course work in transfer from any institution is made by the institution considering the acceptance of credits or course work.

Applying to Florida Southern as a transfer student is easy.

If transferring less than 24 credits, we also need your:
