Teacher Workshop Courses: Important Information
Each Teacher Workshop Course condenses a full, college-level semester (typically 5 months) into just 9 days, totaling 50 hours of coursework. This means students are expected to complete a minimum of 5.5 hours of college-level work per day—a demanding pace.
To support student success, the college allows Teacher Workshop students to begin working on course materials up to two weeks (14 days) before the official course start date. During this early access period, students can view readings, begin assignments, and prepare coursework in advance. Any assignments completed during this time can be saved and uploaded once the course officially begins.
By utilizing this early access window, students effectively gain 23 days to complete the 50-hour workload, making the pace more manageable.
Key Details:
- Courses are offered 100% online and asynchronous.
- You may access and complete materials at any time during the course.
- The Teacher Workshops are not a program such as an Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) Program or an Alternative Certification Program. They are a series of standalone courses pre-approved by the Florida Department of Education to satisfy the required coursework portion of a teacher’s Statement of Eligibility.
Due to the accelerated nature, students may only register for one course per term.
Please note: Verify all courses with the FLDOE Certification Office at 1-800-445-6739 before applying. Florida Southern College is not responsible if students enroll in the wrong courses or fail to complete all certification requirements. If you currently hold a Temporary Teaching Certificate and need to complete coursework, please see the courses that we offer which align with the course descriptions in your Statement of Eligibility.
