18th Annual 2LT Charles R. Rubado Memorial Bowling Fundraiser

The tournament is in honor of 2LT Charles R. Rubado, a distinguished Alumni of Florida Southern College who was killed supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
2LT Charles R. Rubado was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 12, 1982. On April 30, 2004, he graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. He was a member of Lambda Chi Fraternity and was commissioned as an Armor officer in the United States Army through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the school.
2LT Rubado was assigned to 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment at Fort Carson, Colorado. On March 1, 2005, he was assigned to Crazyhorse Troop as the White Platoon Leader. He deployed with the Troop to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on March 9, 2005. On August 29, 2005, a little over a year after graduation, 2LT Rubado was killed in action while on patrol with his Platoon in Tal Afar, Iraq.
