Applying for Fall Housing

This page is for students who are currently at Florida Southern College. New students for Fall 2026 can contact their Admissions Counselor regarding your Housing Application.

The Roommate Preference Form will open in April 2026. Housing Selection will take place in May & June 2026.

See below for updated resident requirements.

Roommate Preference Form

  • Monday, April 6 – Roommate Preference Form Opens.
  • Tuesday, April 21 – Roommate Preference Forms will still be accepted, but will be processed on a rolling basis and will receive the last housing selection timeslots, regardless of qualifications.

Apply Via the Portal
Students must log in to access the form.

Housing Selection

Students will be assigned a specific timeslot, during which they can log in and select available housing based on eligibility and capacity. The timeslot does not restrict the amount of time a student has to choose a residential space; it simply indicates when they can begin making their selection. Students can select housing from their assigned timeslot until the conclusion of the General Housing Selection period.

Once a student is eligible to begin selection, they can login to the Portal to view available housing options. Options will be limited to spaces that meet a student’s roommate requirements and availability. Individuals who have selected a roommate will have to select spaces that match the number of the group. Individuals will be unable to select an individual space unless they release the members of their group.

Assigning Housing Selection Timeslots

Those who completed the Roommate Preference Form and meet eligibility criteria will be able to view their Housing Selection Timeslot on the Portal in the Housing Selection subsection of the Student tab on Thursday, May 7.

Housing Selection Timeslots are determined by a student’s Florida Southern College earned credit hours, total credit hours (transfer, dual enrollment, etc.), and grade point average at FSC through Spring 2026. Roommate pairings who want to select a space together must use the selection timeslot of the roommate with the earliest assigned time when selecting a room.

Honors Program students and Hollingsworth Scholars will receive an additional priority factor, which will positively impact their Housing Selection Timeslot.

Roommate Request Period

On Thursday, May 7, students will be able to log into the Portal and request roommate(s) for Fall 2026. Students will have through the end of housing selection to select or adjust their roommate(s). Only one student should request all other student(s) for a housing selection group. Once a room assignment is selected on the Portal, students will not be able to change their selected roommate(s) or their housing selection. Students who wish to adjust their roommate(s) or room selection must contact Residence Life to request a manual change which will require adequate time. Any changes will be subject to availability which will be more limited as housing selection progresses.

Medical Accommodations Requests

Any student who is seeking medically related housing accommodation should contact the Office of Student Disability Services to begin the paperwork and evaluation process. Accommodations must be approved by the stated deadline on the Student Disability Services’ website to ensure eligibility prior to the General Housing Selection. Students who do not adhere to the stated deadlines will be assisted to the best of our ability, but we cannot guarantee accommodations for the upcoming Semester.

On Monday, April 6, Students who have met stated deadlines and have been approved by Student Disability Services for medically approved housing accommodations will be contacted separately by Residence Life and provided with a Medical Accommodation Housing Preference Form. These students will have until Monday, April 20 to complete the form. Any submission following Monday, April 20 will be reviewed and assigned based on availability.

Greek Suites Requests

Panhellenic and IFC organizations living within a Greek Suite can select members of their organization to fill their allotted spaces. Organizations can refer to the Greek Village Operating Guide for more information about Housing Selection for Greek affiliated spaces. The needed forms will be sent to the Chapter President and Housing Manager for each organization to review on Monday, April 6. Forms must be completed and submitted back to Residence Life by Monday, April 20. Students selected to reside in the suites will be notified of their placement on Friday, April 24. Students must accept or deny their room assignment by Monday, April 27. Open spaces left unrequested or unfilled by the Organization may be filled with unaffiliated students.

Housing Eligibility

All students must meet eligibility criteria to participate in Housing Selection. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure they meet eligibility criteria. If a student fails to complete the necessary steps, any delay to their timeslot or missed selection opportunities are not the responsibility of the college. Students are encouraged to review eligibility requirement deadlines carefully to avoid disruptions.

All students must be registered for 12 hours for the proceeding fall semester. Students not registered for at least 12 hours for the proceeding fall semester at least 24 business hours before the selection window will be unable to register during their assigned time. Students who register within 24 business hours of their selection window may be delayed in receiving approval. Once a student registers, they can expect to be granted authorization within 48 business hours.

Apartment Residency Criteria

  • Have reached 20 years of age.
  • Have earned a minimum of 52 credits at FSC*.

Students may bring in between 1 to 3 eligible roommates, provided all individuals meet the above definition of upperclass status. Space for roommates is not guaranteed.

*Transfer, dual enrollment, AICE, CAPE, IB, AP, and other accelerated or external credits do not count toward the 52 FSC credit hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the significant changes to the 2025-2026 housing selection process?

  • FSC credit hour totals will be calculated based on credit hours earned through the completion of the spring 2026 semester.
  • Students will need to have earned a minimum of 52 credits at FSC or have reached 20 years of age to be eligible to live in Garden, Star, and Lake Morton Apartments.
  • There is no longer a limit on the number of preferred roommates in Garden and Star apartments.
    • Roommate groups will be able to fill an entire apartment.

    • Students that do not fill an apartment may be consolidated into a similar apartment type by the Office of Residence Life.

  • General Housing Selection will take place between May and June 2026.

    • This will let students register for full-time status before the spring semester ends. Students who are not at full-time status cannot select a housing assignment. Expectations are available, with approval by the Dean of Students, for students entering their last semester at FSC.

Why are available rooms showing for a peer and not for me?

Room visibility is based on the number of roommates you have in your selection group in relation to what is available. If you have more requested roommates than spaces that are available, your requested roommates will have to release you as a roommate. Students who made the request to a preferred roommate cannot release students.

How do I send roommate requests to my housing selection group?

The Roommate Request period on Portal begins on May 7. Students who wish to be in a housing selection group together should determine who has the earliest timeslot. The student in the group with the earliest timeslot should log into Portal and send the roommate requests to the selected students. Students will have through the end of housing selection to select or adjust their roommate(s). Once a room assignment is selected on Portal, students will not be able to change their selected roommate(s). Students who wish to adjust their roommate(s) or room selection must contact Residence Life. This is a manual process. Processing may take a minimum of 48 business hours.

Why can’t I find a particular peer to select for a roommate?

There are a few reasons why a student is not searchable:

  • The student you are requesting may not have completed the Roommate Preference Form.
    • The student will need to complete the application.
  • The student may have selected that they wish to remain unsearchable.
    • The student will need to update their application to say they want to be searchable.
  • The student is already assigned to a room.
    • If a student is assigned to a room, that student will need to contact Residence Life to remove them from their housing assignment. This is a manual process. Processing may take a minimum of 48 business hours.
  • The student already has a roommate request pending to another student.
    • Only one student (the student with the earliest timeslot) should send requests to their selection group.

I still need to submit my Roommate Preference Form or send a Roommate Request even though selection has started for other students. Can I still do so?

Yes! Please log into the Portal and complete the Roommate Preference Form. The form will remain open until the end of the general housing selection process, but students who apply late may receive later housing timeslots regardless of qualifications. Students will be able to send requests during the Roommate Request Period which stays open until the end of the general housing selection process.

Can I change my responses to the Housing Application?

Yes! Please log into the Portal and complete the Roommate Preference Form. The form will remain open until the end of general housing selection.

I am approved for medically related housing accommodations. Should I go through General Housing Selection or through the Medical Accommodation Housing Preference Form?

You should fill out the Medical Accommodation Housing Preference Form in addition to the Roommate Preference Form on Portal. Once timeslots are released, you should utilize whichever option (your timeslot or the medical accommodation assignment days of May 18-20) comes first. Students who have a timeslot after May 15 will be assigned based on their Medical Accommodation Housing Preference Form.

Are second-year students eligible to live in an apartment?

There are eligibility requirements for Garden, Lake Morton, and Star Apartments. All other apartments may be selected based on availability.

Second-year students who wish to reside in apartments may also apply for the Civic Leadership Living Community (CLLC). Students who indicate they wish to apply for the CLLC on the Roommate Preference Form will be taken to the Engage application.

What do I do if I want to adjust my housing assignment or roommate(s) after Housing Selection has ended?

Following the conclusion of General Housing Selection, you will be able to submit a Room Change Request form on Engage. Submissions will be reviewed in timeslot order. The Office of Residence Life will follow up with submitters periodically to provide updates on their submission status. All room changes are subject to availability.

When can I submit a Room Change Request?

You can submit a Room Change Request form starting Monday, June 8th after the conclusion of General Housing Selection. The Room Change Request form can be found on Engage.

Are residential spaces (i.e., apartments, suites, rooms) only single-gender?

Yes, all residential spaces are single-gendered. Students may contact Residence Life if they have further questions.

I missed my assigned timeslot window, or I will be traveling during my assigned timeslot window. What do I do?

Your timeslot will be provided to you on May 7. Note that our times are based on Eastern Standard Time. You may select, starting at your assigned time, from any location via connection to the world-wide web.
