Dr. Susan Serrano Named Dean of Florida Southern's School of Arts and Sciences

Florida Southern College is pleased to announce that Dr. Susan Serrano has been appointed Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Serrano has been a member of the Florida Southern College community for 29 years, serving as a faculty member, Chair of the Mathematics Department, and most recently as Interim Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.
"Having worked closely with Dr. Serrano, I have seen firsthand the thoughtful leadership, sound judgment, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence that she brings to every endeavor. I am confident she will serve the School of Arts and Sciences with distinction and support the continued success of our faculty, students, and staff,” said Dr. Tracey Tedder, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.
Throughout her career, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, student success, and collaborative leadership. She is the recipient of the 2024 Miller Distinguished Faculty Award and the 2009 Advisor of the Year Award.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to serve Florida Southern College as the Dean of Arts and Sciences. Arts and Sciences Programs are a broad range that include Arts, Humanities, and Social and Natural Sciences. These Programs impact society on a global level,” Dr. Serrano said. “Mathematics, the ultimate language of problem-solving, is my core expertise. My ability to merge this expertise with all of the students, faculty and staff of Arts and Sciences coupled with the amazing Academic Leadership gives me the opportunity to be a part of producing Graduates that will challenge the status quo, help others, and leave a strong mark on the community or the entire planet.”
